For the anniversary of MJ’s death on June 25, fans will have the chance to pay tribute to the iconic singer by visiting his gravesite at LA’s Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Officials are allowing fans to memorialize in a protected distance from where MJ was laid to rest in the area called the Great Mausoleum, which is completely closed off from public.
“We understand that Forest Lawn is working with the Jackson family for some kind of commemoration,” Sergeant Tom Lorenz of the Glendale police force told the L.A. Times. “We will be working closely with Forest Lawn to ensure the safety of those who want to pay their respects to Michael Jackson while ensuring the safety of others who are coming to the cemetery to pay respects to their loved ones.”
Final security plans will be confirmed and announced by the end of the week for fans planning to take part in the memorial.
