Interesting that out of 500, 43 songs are by the Beatles. And “My Girl” #1, the most overplayed song on this station?? Naaahhh..”Hey Jude” should have been #1, easily.

  6. oldies76 says:

Great music, but the countdown should be ranked according to chart history and performance in it’s day, not based on today’s feedback.

I’ve been listening to KRTH since it all began in the mid 70’s. These “Countdown” special’s are nothing but a playlist added by number’s.How are these Countdowns tabulated? It’s the same old songs at the top. I have the original FIRECRACKER 300 playlist from KRTH that was played back in the 80’s and 90’s which was more like it.Come on guys, give us a REAL countdown that WE pick!!! Let the listener in on the fun!!!

I remember the #1’s weekends during Labor Day Weekend in the early and mid 80’s. Now that was fun! The Firecracker countdowns then were great too. Stairway to Heaven was usually #1 then and WAS listener voted. As long as the song was an oldie, KRTH would play them.

Today it’s the same 500 played every week, with very slight variations, “countdowns” included!

    2. oldies76 says:

The problem now, is that if we vote for oldies that are not “safe” for KRTH to play, we’ll never hear them, even on top 500 countdowns. Remember, it’s just their top 500 everyday songs, re-arranged to make it seem like it’s a legit countdown. Nothing special here.

  9. paul says:

And one more thing, look at the songs from 500 to about the mid 200. How often do you hear these songs played during the week on KRTH??

can you tell who sing– no body nobody
