stevie wonder The Top Ten This Week in 1977

Time for another flashback to 33 years ago this week.

It’s hard to believe so much time has gone by since these tunes were on the radio every day.

(last week’s position in brackets)

1.    When I Need You/Leo Sayer (2)  It’ll stay on top for only a week, but at least it GOT there!

2.    Sir Duke/Stevie Wonder (4)  It’s a tribute to Duke Ellington…it’s NEXT week’s number one song.

3.    Hotel California/The Eagles (1)  Of course you know that “you can check out any time you like….but you can NEVER leave!”

4.     Southern Nights/Glen Campbell (3)  We STILL love his Arizona mug shot!  :-)

5.     Couldn’t Get It Right/Climax Blues Band (9)  They’re from Stafford, England.  Lead singer Colin Cooper passed away almost 2 years agoThis was their only top ten hit…

6.     Right Time Of The Night/Jennifer Warnes (6)  This is its peak position.  It would drop off the top 10 next week.

7.    So Into You/The Atlanta Rhythm Section (7) Band members J.R. Cobb, Dean Daughtry and Buddy Buie (manager/producer) were all with Dennis Yost and the Classics IV.

8.     I’m Your Boogie Man/KC and the Sunshine Band (11)  This would be their 4th of 5 number ONE songs.
