Already there’s an industry buzz about a possible record being set during the first weekend of “Iron Man 2.”
The summer box office season begins at midnight tonight (Thursday).
It’s pretty much a certainty that the movie will open with some eye-opening figures.
Tracking data of the movie suggests that it could debut with a stunning take that just may overtake the record $158.4 million bow by Warner Bros.’ “The Dark Knight” two summers ago!
At Paramount, who brings us “Iron Man 2,” they don’t want too big an expectation, so they’ll only say that the sequal will take in more than the first did.
In the summer of 2008, “Iron Man” impressed with a $98.6 million haul the first weekend of release.
Meanwhile, one early review says, “Forget the negative buzz on the Web about “Iron Man 2.” Robert Downey Jr. and company more than prove their mettle in a thoroughly enjoyable comic book movie. What everyone really wants to know is whether No. 2 is better than No. 1. Well, it is and it isn’t.”
The movie-going public will be the ones to decide.
