The tune was #1 for a very impressive SIX WEEKS in a row!

By the way, it was from the Broadway musical “Hair,” which turned out to be the longest running production in the history of the famous entertainment district.

Here’s the entire TOP TEN from THIS WEEK in 1969 (with last week’s position in brackets).

1.    AQUARIUS/LET THE SUNSHINE IN–The 5th Dimension  (1)

2.    YOU’VE MADE ME SO VERY HAPPY–Blood, Sweat & Tears  (2)   First hit from B, S & T

3.    IT’S YOUR THING–The Isley Brothers  (7)

4.    ONLY THE STRONG SURVIVE–Jerry Butler  (6)   During 20 years on the charts; THIS was his biggest hit!

5.    DIZZY–Tommy Roe  (3)  Tommy’s biggest hit in the U.S.

6.    GALVESTON–Glen Campbell  (4)   This is his second-biggest hit of the 60’s behind “Wichita Lineman.”

7.    HAIR–The Cowsills  (8)  This is the second tune from “Hair” on the Top Ten

8.    TWENTY-FIVE MILES–Edwin Starr  (10)

9.    TIME OF THE SEASON–The Zombies  (5)   They had broken up quite a while ago and this tune was 2 years old!

10.  ROCK ME–Steppenwolf
