Today’s National Puppy Day! It was initiated not only to celebrate the unwavering love and adoration between pooches and their owners, but to bring awareness to pet adoption and the horrors of puppy mills. The bond between a human and their animal is something hard to put into words, but the love generated is unconditional!

For more on the origins of National Puppy Day:
National Puppy Day was founded in 2006 by Pet Lifestyle Expert, Animal Behaviorist and Author, Colleen Paige, who is also the founder of National Dog Day and National Cat Day. This holiday, as well as others, are part of Colleen Paige’s Animal Miracle Foundation & Network, a non-profit organization which offers financial assistance and educational programs ranging from pet cancer to fire safety and travel safety for kids and pets alike.
National Puppy Day brings awareness to the safety, health and problems facing young pups. Do your part to support animals just like your very own house hold pet, by continuing to spread the word about animal adoption. If you’re currently thinking about getting a pet, please consider adoption, not only would you be giving an animal a home, but you’d be saving one of the many animals that desperately need your help.
These adorable Shiba Inu puppies were recently adopted. When there’s a new litter you can find them running around on the Shiba Inu’s UStream account, a great way to spend National Puppy Day!
