The TWELVE American Idol finalists were armed with all [lastfm]ROLLING STONES[/lastfm] songs for their battle this past week.
We thought it’d be fun to see just which of the tunes in the STONES SIXTIES SONGBOOK were in their top ten for the decade.
Here are the Rolling Stones’ TOP TEN TUNES of the SIXTIES!
1. Satisfaction – 1965 (#1 – 4 weeks)
2. Honky Tonk Women – 1969 (#1 – 4 weeks)
3. Get Off Of My Cloud – 1965 (#1 – 2 weeks)
4. Paint It, Black – 1966 (#1 – 2 weeks)
5. Ruby Tuesday – 1967 (#1 – 1 week)
6. 19th Nervous Breakdown – 1966 (peak #2)
7. Jumpin’ Jack Flash – 1968 (peak #3)
8. Time Is On My Side – 1964 (peak #6)
9. As Tears Go By – 1966 (peak #6)
10. Mothers’ Little Helper – 1966 (peak #8)
Interesting to note that the Stones only had ONE song enter the weekly Top 100 in 1969 (Honky Tonk Women) and DID NOT EVEN APPEAR on the list in 1970; not ONCE! It was almost two years of total absence off the national Top 100! “Honky Tonk Women” entered the hit music chart in July of 1969. They wouldn’t enter the top 100 again until May of 1971 with “Brown Sugar,” which would hit #1 on May 29th and stay on top for 2 weeks.
